New Baby Birth Announcement

My father’s family I rarely see, I see them maybe once a year. They live several hours away and we are not a close family. I don’t want to call all of them since my grandpa married a woman with a VERY large family and I don’t even know most of their names! I am comfortable talking to my grandpa since he is the only one I know in the family, so I could call and let him know.

So how do I go about telling them my wife is pregnant?

Do I wait until she is like 6-7 months along in her pregnancy and then send out cards to the family I have addresses for?

Do I let some people know (like my grandparents) and let the word spread?

Do I call my grandparents and let them know, and then send out birth announcements to the family I have addresses for? (After the baby is born)

Or do I just wait until the baby is born and then send out announcements to the family I have addresses for?

i would tell your grandparents and then let them spread the word! once the baby is born, you can send out announcements to all of them. but i would let the grandparents tell them... that way you don't have to deal with it and they'll probably be happy/excited to spread the word!

yea that's great but you don't have to capitalize big brothers unless you want to.

Hey guys, my wife Victoria had our new baby boy 2 months premature. I am on her account because she has many friends from her hometown who get on this, so she wanted me to just let you know that she and baby are healthy. She is in recovery right now, with 30 stitches! ://

V really wanted me to just let everyone know thats she is OK. She promised some friends that she would have Me get on her account and post it. She is now sleeping and baby is in the NICU because he is only 3 pounds 10 ounces.

My brother.An email immediately following the birth announcement.I set bounderies with him and he got ANGRY with and deflected it into MY being manipulative.He doesn't take me seriously that he cannot be in my daughters life until he stops being a bully (and he cannot see it.Too much pot and alchol abuse is my opinion.He is handsome, funny, professional and can't see his behavior as everyone thinks he is so 'together'.So he think I am the one with the probelm for not taking a joke.So help!I need to to let him know I AM serious before I have him over.

However, if you arrive and make belittiling jokes at my expense or at anytime do not recognize that when my daughter and I have the right to have 'no mean no', than I will have to ask you to leave. I won't do it in person or the phone. He gets angry, informs me that we are NOt talking about it, and he verbally lashes out at me and won't let me get a word in edgewise. And for the one answer. I am not hiding behind my baby. This would still be an issue if I had no children. I am not dragging my kids into a mess, I am protecting them

Why do hospitals include ounces in babies birth weight? Does it really matter unless the baby is extremely underweight to include ounces? Also, the whole inches bit is a little much. Again, unless they are trying to see if baby is a midget it really doesn't matter right? I think they do it for the new parents to be able to tell people something about there baby in social situations, like in there birth announcements. You know, for conversations about the new baby. Or just to make the parents happy b/c it is a pointless tradition or something. What do you think?

Babies don't gain weight a pound at a time. And after birth, most babies lose some weight by the time they make it to the first MD appointment. If they don't mark the ounces and say the baby initially weighed 8 lbs and at the first appointment, they weighed 7 lbs (again, not noting the ounces) this could be a very very bad situation. Malnourished babies will have a host of problems. But say the baby was 8 lbs, 2 oz at birth and now 7 lbs, 15 oz 10 days later, that's not a big deal.
