I am planning to start an invitation and birth announcements business. I am trying to find a software that specialize in invitations, birth announcements, and holiday photo cards and photo note cards. I am having a hard time in to find this kind of software. Can someone please help.
To find exclusive software, you will have to write it yourself (see definition of exclusive).
I would use Adobe Illustrator or InDesign. Why? Because the people that are hiring me to do the printing for them are also hiring me to come up with a design for them. If you hit a block, grab a template to become reinspired. Pick up a bunch of different fonts. And you'll be set.

my son was born right before Christmas last year so we just sent out written cards and his birth announcement after the holidays. This year we want to do a Christmas photo card.
Is it worth it to get those professional pictures taken? Or just take the babies picture yourself?
(I had his portrait taken when he was around 4 months, but those were pricey!! came out great though, but I obviously can't use those since he's changed to much!)
I would do the pics yourself.
Start early and just keep taking and taking photos. If you have a digital camera, taking many isn't going to cost you anything and eventually you will find one that you adore.
Also I don't think your recipients are going to know whether it was professionally taken or not. They are just going to love seeing a photo of your baby.
