My husband is in the military so I want to put our birth announcement in our hometown paper. How do I word that she wasn't born in our hometown? Do I put that before her information, or after it? This really confuses me and I can't find an example anywhere of a similar situation. Thanks for any help you can offer.
I'd call your hometown paper and ask how they handle out of town births. So often they just get the information from the local hospital and print it the next day (with parent's permission of course). So they may counsel you to have someone call a specific department when your baby is born so they can report it in the birth section. They'll probably just list it as "name of parents, baby name and birth information, name of hospital baby born in, name of town baby born in."
We have a birth certificate issued by the State of Hawaii, corroborated by the birth announcement in the Honolulu newspaper of the time. Both have been independently verified.
However, even if these proofs were not valid, we have the simple fact that any child of an American citizen is automatically a citizen itself no matter where it is born. John McCain, for example, was born in Panama. Since Mrs. Obama was a born and raised American citizen her son is an American by birthright. That's the law.
So why is the birth issue being raised?
the issue is over with. whoever thinks obama is not a citizen needs to be educated because his mother is a us citizen so that automatically gives obama citizenship and hypothetically if he wasnt do you really think americans are stupid enough to let a noncitizen becomne president? um no. really old topic.
these are samples of birth announcements. i want to know if you were to see these on ebay would you order them for your baby's birth announcements (with your own baby's info and photo)?
these are just a few examples to give you an idea.

the reason i ask is because i am currently working towards a graphic design major and i also am a stay at home mom for the mean time with my 4 month old baby. i really enjoy making invitations, announcements, etc. for friends and family so my sister suggested i could start selling on ebay. im thinking for $5 or less. i would be selling a digital image of personalized announcements or invitations, then the buyer would just have to upload it to any printing site and order the amount of their choice. i've seen several people do it this way.
Yes, I really liked all those, especially the 3rd and 4th ones. We did cheap birth announcements though because babies are expensive enough. I got them on shutterfly and they were $0.20 a piece, and if you ordered 60 you got 20 free.
My sister just had her baby the other day and I really want to make a birth announcement card to send to people. I want to download a software to do so. I need a software that is free and that is going to give me a lot of options. For example, the name, time, weight, lenght, where, when, add a photo, size of lettering, text, and so on. Please help. Thanks
You can create your own baby card using your photos at CropMom at http://www.cropmom.com. CropMom is an online scrapbooking site that has thousands of graphics you can use to embellish your card.
Most cards are 5" by 7" so use that canvas size.
You can add your own text, choose from a variety of fonts and sizes.
Once you've made your layout, you can purchase for a small fee the high-resolution, print-quality JPEG file of your layout. You can print the JPEG file at home or have it printed by a photofinisher. I personally like the cards at Snapfish because you can add another 5" by 7" landscape size layout (which is automatically reduced by Snapfish to fit the space) to the inside of the card.
One more thing: CropMom has divided the graphics into "kits." There is one called "A Visit from the Stork" and it has baby stuff.

Iraqi city sees increase in birth defects
FALLUJAH, Iraq, March 4 (UPI) -- A sharp increase in birth defects in the Iraqi city of Fallujah could be linked to sophisticated weaponry used by U.S. troops in 2004, a researcher was told.
British-based Iraqi researcher Malik Hamdan says doctors in Fallujah are seeing a "massive unprecedented number" of heart defects and an increase in the number of central nervous system defects in newborns, the BBC reported Thursday.
"I've seen footage of babies born with an eye in the middle of the forehead, the nose on the forehead," Hamdan says.
Hamdan says data indicate the rate of congenital heart defects among infants in Fallujah is 13 times higher than in Europe.

Poynter’s Bill Mitchell has a must-read on side-bet businesses that could help news organizations through their current woes.
For those who think this is something new, Mitchell passes along Michael Schudson’s observation that American newspapers got their start as advertisements for printers who made their money printing other things — as well as by offering postal services and serving as general stores. And he notes that today, the Washington Post gets the majority of its revenue from Kaplan, its education business.
Of course, few news organization are likely bets for launching test-prep behemoth, but smaller papers have done well with smaller ventures: The Pocono Record’s editor tells Mitchell that the paper does a nice side business selling reprints of photos taken at sporting events and festivals by the paper’s photographers. (Because the photo galleries are posted online , they also give the Record a nice traffic bump.) An Alaska TV station runs airplane flights and fishing trips. And lots of specialty news organizations offer special reports or host meetings.
