Child Birth Announcement

My son will be born with cleft lip and palate. in his birth announcement i want to try and explain that he has cleft and it will be corrected and we will keep everyone updated. i would like to have it on the announcement so people are shocked or wierd when they see our newbie. does anyone have any suggestions on how we can write this short and sweet? im not a good writer.
i meant so people **aren't shocked** sorry!

Maybe something to the effect of:

"We are proud to announce the birth of our son [name] born on [date]. He is a very healthy little baby weighing in at [weight] but will be needing minor surgery to correct a cleft pallet and lip. No need for worry! We'll keep everyone updated and look forward to showing him off."

I'm due with a second child this fall. I sent out birth announcements to our close friends and family with my first. Do people usually send birth announcements with a second child? Thanks!!

I did photo cards for both of my girls. Everyone loves pictures of babies so a friend of mine (who is a photographer) made awesome photo cards that said their names, birth dates and stats.

Some hospitals put the local birth announcements in the local newspaper. Check their website and see if it is listed in May or June. Sometimes they are late in announcing births. Good luck

I sent my announcements out a few days after my daughter was born. I don't know how you can make one. You could use a card making program, something like Paint shop pro, or if you're creative enough you can literally make your own, like getting card paper, and glitter, stickers or whatever. as for the info, the ones I've seen had:

Childs name
Day they were born
What hospital
Time, weight, length
Proud parents names
(I can't think of anything else)

A good friend who is healthy and in her 20's just gave birth to her first child and upon delivery found out the child has downs syndrome. What do I say to her???????

I would still congratulate her, but I would also offer to help her out in whatever way I could -- for example sitting with the baby so she can have some time to herself, just getting together to talk, etc.
