I'm just shell shocked to think people would report me for announcing our happy news and thank everyone who has answered all my infertiltiy and pregnancy questions over the last couple of years. Why would someone do that? I know it was not a question but some people are so insensitive.

I'm sorry hun - some people are just mean. Don't let it put a dampener on things for you. I bet 99.99% of the people on here are thrilled to hear your news. It's always nice to hear about the birth of a little one, especially if the parent has been a frequent questioner on here. It gives us all some hope. Congratulations x x x

my daughter was born in 2004 and i wasnt there for it because i was in afghanistan and i would at least like to see or read the birth announcement.

Do you think there is certain Etiquette rules after you have a baby, when informing close friends and family??
Would you be upset if your VERY good friend didn't call or text you, and you found out off a virtual stranger??

Oh yes, I had the text messages and e-mails formatted while I was in labor, just waiting to be able to attach pics :)
I also had my mother, neighbor and friend, and even the synagogue's secretary on call so THEY could scream it from the roof tops FOR me, as I'm lazy after birth.
On that note, two days after Isaac was born the jaundice became worse and we had to return him to the hospital briefly for tests and then have them set up treatment at home. At the same time, I had family - loads of family- descending on us from around the globe, and our 14 month old chose that day to get her very first ear infection. At the same time I was trying to plan a bris- caterers, florists,photographer- all that, to take place in my home- that may or not need to take place when Isaac was 8 days old, depending on the doctor's decision that took a week to make. I was not a happy camper and one of my closest friends is *still* peevish that I wasn't taking visitors that day when SHE wanted to come. Well I never said I didn't have some ego-centric friends...but I can't even apologize for that one, I was just way too overwhelmed. <sigh> can't win them all.
But in the middle of it all, I did manage to let people know we'd had the little guy.
My SIL has just had her third babby and we just got sent an sms message where as everyone else in the immediate family got phone calls. What is the etiquette on birth announcing to family? Would you be annoyed to find out hours after your brothers and sisters and via an sms?
Katie, you don't know me, nor what I am thinking. I am not as "DEEP" as you might think I am. I am asking about etiquette, not if I am hurt or upset, that doesn't even come into it. If you aren't going to answer my Q properly don't bother because I'm not interested in being told how I feel.

I was just wondering about whether an sms is appropriate for immediate family, when we with the birth of all out three kids rang our parents and brothers and sisters and told them in person, not via an sms. We are the youngest by the way.
They should call your mom and dad and then your mom and dad should call you. That's how I did it with my babbies. I told my mom to spread the word.
The hospital gift shop sells pink bears w/ pink ribbon for girls and blue for boys to hang on the hospital room door. I would like to make some unique gifts that I could sell to hospital gift shops or elsewhere with new baby theme that can be hung on the doors or something besides cigars to pass out to visitors. Any crafty ideas would be appreciated.
My sister-in-law just had her baby a few weeks ago and on the hospital door was a sign that said
CONGRATULATIONS ITS A GIRL......
and everybody got to sign it and wish them luck.
